Pillar Procedure®

One minimally invasive surgical treatment for obstructive sleep apnea is called the Pillar Procedure®.  In this procedure, the surgeon inserts three palatal implants into the soft palate. By stiffening the surrounding tissue, these implants lessen the vibrations from snoring and reduce the ability of the soft palate to obstruct the airway. When performed by itself, the Pillar Procedure requires only a short office visit. This relatively new procedure can produce a lasting effect without surgically removing or damaging tissue, and may be performed along with at least one other form of surgery for sleep apnea.
